Just so you guys know, Rhia texted me last night to say she's having some computer issues. She thinks it's her graphics card, but they're not positive if it is/how much it'll cost to fix it. Hopefully it's something easy and cheap, and she'll be back in a few days. BUT if any of you guys have any tips re: graphics cards (can she just buy a new one and install it on her own? should she get professionals to do it? are they v. expensive, etc.), please let me know and I'll forward them onto her.

for pricing: ones i've looked at seem to be anywhere from $50-130, depending on a) what you want from a graphics card b) how much power you need c) how much you're willing to pay

ummm so i'd say if she's not sure that it IS the graphics card, take it to a professional. just NOT the fucking geek squad. those bitches will RIP YOU OFF and they have no idea what they're doing. if she's just taking her comp in to get a consultation they're fine, but as for doing the work, they will charge you like a billion dollars to do something you can easily figure out yourself. HOWEVER. if rhia is particularly clueless when it comes to computer hardware, or just not confident in her ability to perform the tasks, it should be worth it to take it to someone else. if she is fine with doing it herself, it should be pretty easy.

I thiiiink there's another computer in the house, but I'm not sure. I know she has a computer at work though, and I'll see if she can print stuff from there. Or at least look it up and write down directions.

And UGH YEAH GEEK SQUAD FFS. I can get an internal HD for my laptop for like $80 on Newegg but they are going to charge me almost $300 to install. I AM P. SURE I CAN FIND THOSE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE INTERNET FOR FREE, FUCKERS.

OHAI ASKED BF HE SAID YOU BASICALLY CANNOT REPLACE AN INTERNAL GRAPHICS CARD ON A LAPTOP LIKE AT ALL SINCE IT'S IN THE MOTHERBOARD

but uhh he couldn't say if that's actually what the problem is without more info. he said if she's having trouble with the display it's more likely that something is fucked up with the display or the connection between the display and the motherboard. I HOPE THIS HELPED.

	Yyy, my brother will hopefully be coming down sometime this week to take a look at it. And he doesn't think it's the display becaaaause I hooked up my desktop's monitor to the laptop and nothing showed still, idk. BASICALLY I AM SCREWED. (Reply to this) (Parent)
