[FLEETS] NCIS??

HELLO FELLOWS. So, Sheena, Maddie, Shawna and I have been thinking: what fleets needs more of is blatant rip-offs of military television shows. Our television show of choice? NCIS, motherlovers. Right now we have versions of Tony, Gibbs, Ziva, and Abby on the docket; I know a few people are apping forensic people of some kind, so we will probably hit you up for a Ducky. Or you should hit us up. Or something. There will be hitting. We still need a McGee, and maybe a Palmer and/or director of some kind idkkkk. ANYWAY, lovedbythesun, a_chroi, and ikhan, you should put up stuff about your characters here. And plot things.

HERE IS THE BASIC RUNDOWN OF MINE: He is still in the works, but I know that he is currently not military--he's some kind of intelligence officer, though I have to figure out which branch of the government. He'll probably be with the NSA/CSS, and be a specialist in languages, codes, cryptology, and FILING. But that all might change; he is sort of on the backburner at present. What I do know about him is that he's a stickler for protocol and a firm believer in the power of paperwork and accuracy--bitches, you will be signing all forms in triplicate forever. He was born outside the US and English isn't his first language, so while he's aces at breaking codes, he occasionally fucks up basic colloquialisms and words, and please do not ask him about current internet slang. "What is 'lulz'?" This will be an IC question.

edit. Unrelated, but I've decided Joss/Ryan Gosling PB's callsign is going to be Brawny. As in paper towels. Because he is known for wearing red flannel and cleaning shit.

[DREAD] what is wrong with me :(

Hello please, have some more character spam. These aren't held yet since I'm already at my limit of 4 holds (I WILL NEVER STOP), but just so I can get the ideas ~out~. Also so I can feebly hope no one uses them/the PBs. Allow me this hope.

• idk his name <s>or codesign</s> yet. :( BUT he's in his very early twenties--20 to 22, at the oldest. Callsign: BRAWNY. Named because the first time someone saw him on base, he was in one of those red plaid flannels with the shirts rolled up, cleaning up a mess someone had made. It was Brawny Guy for ages, but eventually got shortened to just Brawny. Which is especially funny since, while he's not a tiny guy, he's far from the burly mountain man the power towel dude is.
• I blame this idea entirely on a_chroi saying she wanted more people for her character's diner in Dreadtown. :| Unnamed Bro, who I will just call RG for now, was born and raised in Montana, on one of those sprawling horse properties. His dad's an ex-naval cadet and a veterinarian, and owned a stable where they'd both keep their own horses and rent out stalls to other families without adequate property/housing. They did horseback riding lessons too, and his dad traveled a lot as a vet for different jockeys and managers at horse races. Which wasn't his favorite thing to do, but Shakespeare gots to get paid.
• His parents are both pretty old -- he has two older brothers who are fifteen years his senior, and RG was a surprise "uh I thought I was going through menopause already??" baby. His dad fought in Vietnam, if that gives you any clue, but he was honorably discharged and hasn't really thought about the military since! He got his veterinarian's license afterwards, and has been totally happy shacking up with his wife and kids in the middle of nowhere.
• His childhood is pretty boring. Lots of horses, lots of looking up to his father, etc. He is in choir, and briefly entertains ideas of being a lounge singer or Michael Buble-esque guy. But lol no, singin's a lady's business.
• Ends up signing up with the Army Reserve outside Great Falls, Montana, but he never makes it through training: his dad dies (a heart attack; no secret angst or anything) and his mother doesn't handle it well, as she's also getting on in age. Her health declines rapidly, and RG has to leave the Reserves to move back in and take care of her.
• He runs his dad's business for a while, but he doesn't have a veterinary license, and people just don't trust a 19-year-old kid the same way they trust a 50-year-old veteran and stand-up guy. Business eventually dwindles and dies, as the economy sinks and people just can't afford to keep horses anymore. They can't pay the bills on the ranch, and foreclose to the bank.
• This is a year or two before the scheduled launch, and there is something of an exodus of people from small towns and agrarian business to places that are either directly related to the ships (i.e. Dreadtown) or who have peripheral contact -- the neighboring cities, government installations that work with Dreadtown, etc. There's also some of the best doctors in the world down there with better technology than you can get in Great Falls, so RG packs up himself and his mom and heads down to Dreadtown, Texas.
• And he's been there since! His mom's being seen by a local doctor, but he's just a normal one, and RG keeps trying to petition the military doctors without much success. I still have to figure out what's wrong with her, actually, but w/e. He works a couple of jobs to keep up with the costs of health care/insurance/medications: he buses tables at Groucho's, drives civilian transport for the base (i.e. when they have to get in/around/out of the city and don't have a driver on hand), works as a janitor. He essentially doesn't have a skillset besides taking care of horses and teaching people to ride (and being a baritone, but that's neither here nor there), so jobs are sort of limited.
• Personality-wise, he's nice! Quiet. Still waters run deep and all that jazz. Doesn't always have much to say and, particularly when you're talking to him in person, he tends to chew over every thing he says a few times before he actually says it. It pisses people off mostly--who wants to listen to someone hem and haw before saying every little thing?--so he mostly just keeps his mouth shut. Very polite and chivalrous to the point where women sometimes want to tell him to sit down and let them handle things themselves. He will totally fight with you to carry your bag of groceries, okay. He's got a lot of issues surrounding his mother, namely that he obviously doesn't want her to die, but he wants the situation to change because he hates seeing her like this, and he hates having to stick around for it even more.
• blah blah hick blah blah idk.

• Again, no name or callsign yet! No age either.
• Actually, he pretty much is only happening because Zoe said she wanted to see me app a cracked out conspiracy theorist, and I couldn't make him work with Guy Pearce.
• Sooo yeah, he is sort of crazy. Brilliant hacker, but spends all his time trying to track down private government memos and prove that the accident at the ship in India was actually orchestrated by a secret Republican fringe-North Korean coup. He does not trust the government. All his files are encrypted six ways from Sunday, and he has built things that he can shove all his hard drives into and then incinerate them if he ever feels he's being watched too closely. He absolutely believes in Big Brother, and once they're on the ship, he will probably have a minor meltdown about being under government supervision 24/7.
• THAT IS PRETTY MUCH ALL I HAVE RIGHT NOW, other than that, yes, he very likely lives in one of his relatives' basements right now. And eats a lot of cheetos.

• rofl I have nothing on this dude. My idea for him keeps changing, but I just want to PB Guy Pearce as some government pencil pusher ngl. Possibly an ex-soldier type who got put on desk work? AND NOW SORT OF LIKES IT, IT IS VERY THERAPEUTIC.
• May or may not be involved with the faux NCIS team Shawna, Sheena, and Maddie are doing. He will be :|ing at them. Constantly. You didn't sign these in triplicate, okay. They need to be signed in triplicate.

PLEASE COMMENT SO I CAN BEEF THESE OUT AND HAVE THE APPS WRITTEN FOR WHENEVER I CAN PUT THE HOLDS DOWN.

Her childhood was really nothing glamorous: her dad was an accountant and her mother was a law clerk. She has no siblings, but her parents never spoiled her. When she was young, she was rambunctious and loud--she climbed trees, went sailing, got into gymnastics. She was that girl who every time you talked to her, she'd joined some new sports team or was in a different after-school club. She rarely stuck with anything for long.
• Started getting more girly in her teens, which was a problem, since it increased the number of options of things she could do with her life. Be an astronaut, be an actress, marry and stay home, go into policework -- you know, all the things kids think about being. She was basically this hugely flighty, uncertain kid with a lot of independence.
• Went to UWash for undergrad, and she got quieter and more introspective, and even more uncertain what to do with herself. She had a lot of interests but very little practical skill, which made her depressed and restless, and unable to really apply herself to anything.
• Then she met Christopher (who neruda) is bringing in, and he sort of swept her off her feet. He was older! Charming! Handsome! A scientist! He was working on the Dreadnaught! It was a recipe for romance~~~ and Samantha really thought, hey, this was it. That Moment in everybody's life where things just start falling into place (something she'd been sorely lacking up till then). So she dropped out of college, got married, and and was ready and waiting for life to start looking up.
• ...except for the part where it didn't at all. There are at least 15 years between her and Christopher, and no matter how love conquers all~ or w/e, that was three-quarters of her life when they got married. She was still restless and unhappy with herself, which ended up bleeding over into her marriage; she loved Christopher, but she was only 21. • They moved to Dreadtown so he could work on the ship and she set about occupying herself with being a housewife and settling into the town, etc. She started taking up hobby after hobby again--the house was rearranged no less than three times a year--and compensated for essentially having no direction or goals by being really friendly and neighborly. People in Dreadtown: you knew her. You liked her. She brought you (store-bought) pies. She made needlepoint shit for your little bbs.
• When she found out she was pregnant in 2006, she was actually sort of terrified, and not just in the usual way. She'd never even had a plant for longer than two months before--how was she supposed to take care of a baby?
• But then she had a miscarriage later that year, so it was sort of problem-solved. :(
• After that, she stopped being as friendly and outgoing as she had been. She got nervous and fretful, and started worrying over every little thing. A lack of direction became a lack of confidence, and Samantha turned into something of a fatalist: anything that could go wrong, would. neruda, Christopher probably had to deal with a lot of frantic calls at all hours when he wasn't at home, because the news said a tornado was possibly coming there way, or there was a bad storm, or she had heard someone say they thought there was some kind of flu outbreak on the ship so please come home. She lost a lot of her desire to do things, and mostly stayed around the house. People who she used to be friends with sometimes wouldn't see her for days at a time.
• All of that started turning into resentment--at her life, at her choices, at her husband. There's a lot of regret there that she hasn't done more with her life, which she's starting to take out in quiet ways on Christopher--sometimes she just won't speak to him for a few days, but more often she's just really, really passive. Any time he asks her what's wrong, she just says nothing.
• When the launch date got closer, she figured she and Christopher wouldn't be going, but then it turned out they were and she got pretty excited, for the first time in ages. She sees the Dreadnaught as this brand new opportunity--a lot of people who don't know her already, who don't know about the miscarriage, blah blah shining shimmering splendid~. But at the same time she is almost cripplingly nervous and worrisome, and she's convinced a) Something Will Go Wrong, or b) it'll just end up being her life as it is now, but in a permanently enclosed space.
• Also, she is pregnant. Only a few months; Christopher is excited, but she is not. She's really not fit to be a mother and she knows it, but she's always been under the impression that that was just what you did when you married, and is sort of horrified at herself for not wanting it. She's also terrified something will happen again, or the baby will be born sick, or something will go wrong during labor, or a hundred other maybes. :(
• Basically she is an emotional failboat. 8[ BUT she'll be getting back some of her confidence and such on the ship. Idk how yet, but it will happen.

• Helena King, age 34.
• Callsign: Spin. I AM REALLY PROUD OF IT STFU.
• Some of you will recognize this pretty lady from Maimed, and that's where I'm getting a lot of her inspiration! There are obviously some key differences (lol not an apocalyptic future), but a lot of the ideas are the same. I am still working out details, so bear with me.
• Helena was born to a couple of middle-class parents in Maryland. Her mother always wanted more than she had, and her father was a huge pushover with a lot of emotional stability issues. He ended up offing himself when she was 17, so that was fun.
• She got a couple scholarships to private schools when she was young--she has basically had to really work for everything given to her, and not just in the traditional "work hard, be rewarded" sense. Helena is smart and, when she needs to be, manipulative: she will absolutely throw someone under the rails if it means she will get that promotion, or they will overlook mistakes she has made. She deserves everything she's gotten--but that doesn't mean she's gotten it honestly.
• She has two bachelors degrees from Princeton, in Comparative Politics and History (double major, nothing fancy) and a Masters in Political Science from Tulane, which is where she first met Secretary Abélard. He was running for governor of Louisiana at that point, but she interned on his re-election campaign and was publicly recognized for her efforts--enough that Abélard was open to keeping in touch with her when she went to work for another campaign in D.C. QUICK QUESTION, oceanic and guerilla_radio -- do you have a definite idea of how long Abélard was in office before he became Secretary/pre-launch? It looks like they're allowed two four-year terms according to Wiki, but idk that could be wrong.
• ANYWAY BACK TO HELENA. When she was actually in Louisiana might change depending on how long Abélard's been in office, but she was definitely there, and they met and hit it off. He supported her move to D.C., and when that campaign was over, asked that she come back to deal with public relations in his cabinet. Which she did! She was loaned out again in 2008 for the election, since she was pretty well known for being the best of the best when it came to getting a political candidate across the line. She could turn scandals into support rallies, and smear a political opponent six ways from Sunday on a tiny piece of information leaked by their personal secretary.
• But in the meantime, other stuff happened. Back when she was an undergrad at Princeton, she was sleeping with one of the visiting professors--who got her pregnant, and freaked out. Helena did too, of course, but spun the situation to her advantage: she'd get an abortion if he got her into his political science department at his home university. She knew she could hack it, but she didn't have a scholarship or an in to any good grad programs at the time and didn't want to risk getting turned down for some affirmative action crap or WHATEVER. And that's how she got into Tulane! :D She's actually got a lot of ~inner turmoil~ about the abortion, partly because nobody, nobody, knows about it, and partly because she was raised to think that was murder. She'll do a lot of things, but that was even crossing one of her own lines.
• So now she does a lot of community service work to make up for it! She mostly works with different school groups and troubled teens or w/e when she's not working at Abélard's offce, and she's always there whenever he does any sort of benefit. She was working for him during Katrina, too, and helped generate a lot of the good press that buoyed him up in the national eye for his efforts.
• She has a p. big soft spot for teenagers, too. There at this brink of adulthood, about to discover their potential, etc. She gets on with them because she treats them like adults--which actually stems out of her complete inability to handle children (THEY SHIT EVERYWHERE, UGH) rather than any particular aptitude at dealing with teenagers.
• Her job is going to change some on the ship, I imagine, since there...really won't be a lot of ~political intrigue~ or fallout to deal with when everyone's in a contained space. There'll be more communication things and management, w/e. I don't think she can be recruited into any of the military professions since, lol, she can handle a small pistol and that is about it, but she is really goddamn good at managing teams and keeping her head in a crisis. She will be more useful in that area.
• Personality-wise, she is really smart, and really dry. She likes to mock people without any real malice, and is pretty friendly if you can get her to stop working for five seconds. Also surprisingly blunt for a PR manager! She can spin anything she wants, but she very rarely sugarcoats what she says (fortunately, she's rarely under scrutiny as long as Abélard) is still okay). She has difficulty dealing with people who aren't career-minded, and will probably wtf at the more carefree~~ people on board. She fucking loves all those West Wing, 24 type shows and has a soft spot for musicals. She sleeps 4 hours a night and that is p. much it. She'll probably have a heart attack at 40, ngl.
• Idek where I'm going with this anymore. Please let me know if anything is unclear. idek what i'm saying lakj;wlkjalwjelk

EDIT: I really want to PB Guy Pearce as a >:| NCIS agent or something. lovedbythesun, I'm looking at you.

[MEME], [DREAD]

A couple things! First, a meme:

Comment below and I will tell you which of your characters that I've played against are my favorites and why I love them. The reasons will probably be like HERP DERP THEY MAKE ME LOL because I suck at these, but whatever.

Second! So I know the people who are apping girls in the Angel squadron (or girls who will be in the Angel squadron) have been chatting across posts, but I thought it'd be fun/wise if we started sort of hashing out their dynamic! At least for the girls already in the squadron -- how they act with each other, power dynamics, how they act with the other squadrons/pilots/soldiers/etc. So far I know Dee/Ricochet is the leader and Carver/Blitz gets her rocks off heckling the other pilots, BUT WHAT ELSE. Give me deets.

Third! I have at least one more character coming up for Dread but I'm still working her out (and I know I will have a fourth because it's me) so I apologize in advance for future spam.

(candobetter). Technically, First Lieutenant Emmaline Carver.
• Just goes by Carver. Only her brother and maybe her superiors are allowed to call her Emmaline. Everyone else will get a sock in the mouth.
• Callsign: Not sure yet! I've got Blitz held though.
• Occupation: Fighter pilot, in the Angels.
• The Carvers were a ranching family outside of Odessa: a mother, father, and nine kids, all but two of whom were boys. Emmaline was the third to last and was raised, like her older sister, with the mindset that men took care of business and ranching, and women took care of the house. It wasn't a patriarchal thing: Mrs. Carver just didn't interfere with the ranch affairs, and Mr. Carver knew that as soon as he set foot inside their house, his wife's word was law. She wasn't afraid to take the back of a soup spoon to anyone, including her husband.
• Emmaline p. much went FUCK THAT and started hanging around with her brothers and dad as much as she could. They indulged her when she was little, teaching her to ride and herd cattle and take care of sick cows, etc.
• She was 9 when the Dreadnaught pretty much wiped out Odessa, including some of their family's land.
• Her eldest brother was a military scientist working out in D.C. at the time, and ended up being called in as part of the tech team for the alien ship, which allowed the Carvers to relocate into burgeoning Dreadtown when the city was deemed safe for civilians.
• Her older sister and her family stayed out at the ranch while her parents and younger siblings (Carver, her younger brothers, her brother Robbie, and the twins) moved into Dreadtown, where Mr. Carver used his old mechanic's skills to get work and Mrs. Carver opened up a sort of general store. They got a regular supply of fresh dairy, meat, and eggs from their ranch, which made them pretty popular with the locals who liked to know who they were buying from.
• Emmaline spent most of her time loitering around the military base, using "visiting her brother" as an excuse to get a look at the jets and trucks and choppers. She did some basic mechanical work for her dad and worked in the store with her mom, but mostly, yeah, loitering.
• Started driving when she was 14 -- first out of necessity, when her dad needed something delivered and none of her older brothers were around to do it, but she pretty quickly got addicted to being behind the wheel.
• She basically turned into young!James Kirk here: stealing bikes and cars and trucks and driving whenever she could. She was damn good at it, too, but got into trouble way more often than not.
• Got her first taste of flying when she was dating a USAF pilot on the base. She was 17 and pretty much screwing him for the thrill of doing a pilot, but he let her get up into his cockpit (badumching) one day to see how it felt, and she never forgot it. Flying was what she was ~born~ to do.
• When she's 19, the fact that she keeps stealing military vehicles to go joyriding gets her arrested by some MPs -- who can't really catch her until she wraps the truck around a lightpole. This doesn't go unnoticed by the recruiters, and though they don't exactly let her off the hook (it definitely goes on her record), they're more lenient with her than they would be otherwise. It ends up being exactly what she wanted: the recruiter leaves his card, and she wastes no time accepting.
• It's a huge fight with her parents, who aren't really fond of the idea of their youngest girl going off to fly jets, but she basically tells them to suck her left one, SHE'S GONNA BE A PILOT. Only there's more crying and yelling and breaking things, but eventually she does go.
• They put her into basic training, and then the US Air Force Academy (there are some strings pulled to get her her necessary US Representative endorsement), which sort of makes her want to die but she perseveres. And does really well! It weans her of a lot of her "FUCK YOU GUYS I'LL DO WHAT I WANT" attitude, and though she still comes out cocky and hotheaded (possibly even cockier than when she entered, since now she had the schooling to prove she was better than anybody), she's able to handle herself without crashing vehicles and getting into fistfights at the least provocation.
• She then goes through the US Air Force Weapons School, which is sort of like the USAF's version of TOPGUN -- and afterwards she is actually commissioned to TOPGUN as a fighter pilot, where she trains under Commander Beau Jackson. Just before her transfer she is put on the team of Air Force transfers who will go up on the Dreadnaught, which is why she's transferred over to Navy air combat training in the first place. She's no Bentham or anything, but she is damn good at what she does. I think she'll actually be one of the few of the Angels who is already a combat pilot when the game starts, y/n?
• Has juuust been promoted to 1st Lieutenant before game start! Which is sort of a huge deal for her. It also means she's technically a commanding officer, ohoho.
• As I said, she's really brash and hotheaded and competitive. She was raised to believe that everyone had a place they weren't supposed to step out of, so she does everything she can to hop, skip, and jump out of her designated place. She wants to be the Best of the Best, and p. much idolizes Admiral Bentham. It'll be like a dream come true to be serving directly under her.
• Her brother (coulddoworse) is actually there with her! pronto is playing him, and he is basically the only person she trusts to handle her plane (other people do too, obviously, but if something is ever really wrong she HAS to have Robbie fix it). Otherwise, they fight constantly. They are ranching cowfolk and gunslingers, what do you expect?
• I have to talk to the other people holding Angels, but I imagine she's kind of the token ~wild child~? The one who drinks, swears, fights, smokes cigars and wins at pool, etc. Idk if the others do that kind of thing too, yet, but Carver is still p. young, so it's more of a "FUCK YEAH I'M 25 AND I'LL LIVE FOREVER~~~" thing than a hardcore lady who's earned her stripes thing. She's never been to war, and never really seen battle outside of war movies and combat simulations. She's sort of a giant fail when it comes to anything but flying and shooting (and ranching, which is p. irrelevant on a ship), though she does have a degree in aeronautical engineering. Basically, if it ain't on a plane or a farm, she probably doesn't know a whole hell of a lot about it.

Robert Alexander Davies III. His grandfather is Robert, his dad is Bob; he's just Alex. His mother never liked the sound of "Robbie." He's 22, the son of a war vet/congressman of the John McCain variety. His dad's a moderate Republican who actually backed the Obama/Charmichael ticket (for which he got a lot of flak from Conservatives). He wanted to run for the presidency in 2004, but there were some complications. MORE ON THAT LATER.
• Mrs. Davies actually has multiple sclerosis, which went undiagnosed for a long time. There were complications with her pregnancy that ended up temporarily paralyzing her legs, but they never thought to check for MS until she started showing more signs. It was slow progress, but by the time Alex was in high school, she couldn't walk or eat on her own, and had to have nurses round the clock in shifts to take care of her. He basically saw his mother deteriorate into this crippled, diapered thing by the time he was 16.
• His dad handled it as well as he could, but the guy was a politician, and he and his wife agreed they had to do what was best for his career--which usually meant Mrs. Davies never came out in public, and that her disease wasn't even public knowledge until 2002, when they could no longer have her conveniently abroad or get her to sit up in chairs while Robert was making a speech.
• Because his parents were preoccupied with either his mother's disease or his father's career, Alex was given pretty free rein grown up and was rarely ever punished. There were scoldings, sure, but he never had the T-bird taken away or anything. It meant he had something of a reputation for being the bad seed of the Davies' clan. He dated supermodels; he got caught in the tabloids with a suspicious white substance in his nose; he drove fast cars and skived off exams at his elite private academies to go clubbing with a fake ID.
• He also started getting into electronics. It was a hobby of necessity at first: his father's solution to Alex running off and doing whatever was to get one of his CIA friends to install bugs in Alex's tech. His cellphone, computer, etc. If he could be said to have one good quality, it's that once he sinks his teeth in, he doesn't let go--so when he decided to fuck over his dad's weird Big Brothering, he learned how. He ended up having a pretty keen aptitude for electronics, and by his 20th birthday was refurbishing old models of holographic a/v equipment, souping up his laptop, etc.
• Would have gone into mechanical engineering in school, but all the Davies men had been in politics since the turn of the century, and his father wasn't going to pay for him to be some grease monkey. Alex is aching to get his hands on some really complicated tech to fuck around with, but right now he's got a pretty good grip of communication technology.
• IN FACT he will eventually be recruited into the military ranks as a technician, ohoho.
• Personality wise, he is sort of a dick. :( One of those typical rich kids with a chip on their shoulder the size of Australia--if you're not high up on the social ladder, you're not worth his time. He'll have this beaten out of him eventually, but right now he really doesn't do much but lol at middle class people. He is, however, pretty nice to people of his social strata, and when he's not being a dick he's really not a bad friend. His stubborn streak means he likes to know what the hell is wrong with people and fix it when he can (please note: actually fix it; he doesn't like to just "help" and stand by). At the moment I don't think anyone will really like him, but once they get on the ships he'll change some.
• He really loves his mother, even if he hates how helpless she is. Part of the reason he's going to have a major personality switch is that he'll find out about how his father never planned to take his mother on the Dreadnaught at all. ~Crisis of faith~ etc.
• Uhh, idk what else. Idk what his callsign is yet. :/

[RL] work-related question!

I am currently distracting myself from telemarketing (lol I love being hung up on IT IS MY FAVORITE PASTIME) by looking at the current job market. I don't want to quit my job--my boss is nice and forgiving, and while I p. much hate the work, the environment's good, plus job secuurity!--but I'm just not making enough. I know a couple of you guys have two jobs, so my question is--how did you go about getting them? Even when I've only been working part-time, I can never seem to find another part-time job that will work around my working somewhere else. It's also a huge turn-off when I go into interviews saying the job would be a secondary one. Do you guys have any advice in that arena? Where should I be looking, what should I expect in terms of hours/interview issues/etc. I was looking at like, idk, delivery drivers or data entry--something easy and non-taxing I could do a couple late nights a week and weekends. I'm trying to save up money to move out of state, and with student loans coming up soon, I'm just not making enough right now to even ballpark how much I'd need.

EDIT: More RP-related, but who wants to make and/or find me icons of newspapers/stations/anchors/reports/etc.? Just generic ones for the Theo mod account. ty in advance~

My mother saw Twilight and loved it. She won't listen to me say the horrible things the book is idealizing (lol abuse, lol stalking, lol invalidation of woman without man) because "they weren't in the movie," and now she's excited for the new one and I literally feel dirty inside.

Please support me in my time of need.

I sort of maybe think I should take a hiatus, but I don't really want to. I'm not feeling burnt out on RP or anything, but work and school keep throwing curve balls at me left and right and I don't want my writing to get shitty just because I'm functioning on one hour of sleep every couple days or w/e*. I spent all weekend with my bffl and my little brother, and it would have been so relaxing if the constant threat of a paper and work and people fucking up work for me and my boss not understanding things and people all asking for the same materials when said materials only have a finite supply--anyway, I guess this is to say I'm sorry if I'm slow to reply or quiet on AIM. I had to ditch class tonight to work on my paper (and also because the required textbook wasn't anywhere on campus, lololol, so now I have to order it and the shipment is backordered and I had a presentation due today) which will thankfully be over by tonight, but it's getting to that time of year where nothing ever slows down. So. :/

In happier news, Kate Beaton's Wonder Woman is my favorite Wonder Woman.

* Then again, I'm pretty sure sleep deprivation caused about 90% of Compolitik convos, so.

Just a short reminder that I'll be out of town Saturday and Sunday! I'll be back Sunday night, though I'm pretty sure I have a giant paper due sometime in between then, awesome. Also, apologies to anyone I keep skipping out on on AIM! I keep passing out around 10 or so, regardless how late I try to stay up, so if it's after 10 and I'm not responding, that's probably what's happening. SORRY D:
